COPING 101: IDEAS & INSPIRATIONS why: As evidenced by the huge turnouts for our January (clutter-control) and February (time-management) presentations, "how can I upgrade my everyday skills?" is a question of keen interest to adults with ADD. On March 4th, we heard from Mr. Tudisco Esq. and the methods he uses to cope -- preparation; perseverance; exercise; humor; self-acceptance; help-seeking; technology; recognizing and mobilizing our strengths -- that participants have used, or tried to use, to improve their day-to-day functioning. All are encouraged to share what, over the years, has (or maybe has not) worked for them. As an adult diagnosed with ADD -- or, more formally, AD/HD -- Mr. Tudisco serves on the boards of the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) and the Westchester chapter of Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD). The latter publishes Attention! magazine, to which he contributes a column on adult, parenting and legal issues. His work has also appeared in ADDitude magazine and the ADDA quarterly newsletter Focus. A number of these pieces can be found on his website, www.ADDcopingskills.com. After graduating from the Fordham University School of Law, Mr. Tudisco spent four years as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx. He now practices criminal and civil litigation as a partner in the White Plains firm of Marino & Tudisco, LLP. He devotes a portion of his practice to advocacy on behalf of children, adolescents, and adults with special needs. This will be his first appearance before the Support Group. |
