STRATEGIZING

A primer about ADD-related coping skills --
"ADD Crusher Video 1" by Alan Brown --
has its origins in the Support Group.

The video can be previewed at

www.youtube.com/user/ADDCrusher

which offers four short segments. It can also be purchased

www.amazon.com/ADD-Crusher-Video-I/dp/B006JJ6MEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324801562&sr=8-1

through Amazon. Alan writes:

It's particularly meaningful for me to be telling you this, since as I've mentioned in countless MAADDSG meetings, my own ADD awareness,
diagnosis, treatment and development of my strategies began over 15 years ago at MAADDSG.

ADD BLOG

From a correspondent:

I've just started a blog

www.wp.me/p21i7m-V

where I write about my struggles with learning disabilities/ADD.
The name of the blog is Puzzle Pieces.

I've also done some writing at the website ADDConnect

www.addconnect.com

which has a big discussion forum.
I've gotten some good feedback from posts I have written there.

MEN'S PHONE GROUP

From another correspondent:

A free telephone support group for men with ADHD has started.
It will be a telephone meeting once a week for men
who would like support and resources for dealing with ADHD.
The leader has ADHD, is a former counselor, but retired.
There is no fee or ever will be.
The telephone call is your cost;
it is not an 800 number.

HEALTH COVERAGE UPDATE

Almost by definition, AD/HD is a pre-existing medical condition.

The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)
featured a provision for those who have been denied coverage by private insurers
because of a pre-existing condition.

The new Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) --
which, in the Tri-State Area, will be run by the state governments --
provides an option for US citizens who have spent six months, or more,
without coverage.

 PCIP will not be permanent.
Rather, it's designed to tide people over
until ACA's main provisions kick in 2014.

cancellation appeals; and other topics --

MEDICATION SHORTAGE

Had trouble finding a drugstore
stocked with brand-name Adderall?
Or trouble finding a generic or "authorized generic" version of Adderall?
Or trouble finding one of the other amphetamine preparations,
like generic dextroamphetamine or "d-amphetamine salt"?
Or a brand-name version of this, like Dexedrine or Vyvanse?
Or: have you had trouble of finding generic methylphenidate?
Or a branded version of this (Ritalin, Concerta, Focalin, Metadate, Daytrana)?

Or have you found a store
which can fill one of these prescriptions,
only to be told that the price has gone through the roof?

Would you be willing to go on camera --
if necessary, with a blurred facial identity --
to talk about your experience?
