Suzanne Feinstein, PhD, Clinical Psychologist
(Short Bio)
In recent months, Support Group participants have asked about panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, repetitive behaviors, and persistent fearfulness. Such complaints can signify the presence of what is viewed in the mental- health field as an "anxiety disorder."
These can sometimes look like ADD -- or coexist with it. Our next speaker, Dr. Suzanne Feinstein, will describe for us the anxiety syndromes -- obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder -- most often confused with ADD. She'll then raise two tough issues: how to tell where ADD ends, and anxiety begins; and when to ask: what's causing what?
Dr. Feinstein is an anxiety-disorders specialist who also works with ADD adults. She's a psychologist and cognitive- behavioral therapist trained at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University. She teaches at Columbia and keeps a clinical practice in midtown Manhattan. This was her first MAADDSG appearance.
